Bangladesh’s Ambassador has been honored with a medal from the National Museum of History in Mexico. On October 30, 2024, during the 80th anniversary celebration of the National Museum of History, located at Chapultepec Castle, Bangladesh’s esteemed Ambassador Abida Islam was awarded the “Museo Nacional de Historia-Castillo de Chapultepec” medal.
This honor, presented in collaboration with the ISVE Foundation, recognized Ambassador Abida Islam along with 12 other ambassadors for their contributions to cultural diplomacy and their role in preserving and promoting cultural heritage. The efforts of Ambassador Abida Islam, along with those of other diplomats and museum professionals, symbolize joint collaboration with Mexico’s National Museum of History, the National Institute of Anthropology and History, and various museums across the country.
The ceremony, held at the historic Chapultepec Castle, was attended by dignitaries and members of the diplomatic corps, including Ms. Alejandra Gómez Colorado, Director General of the National Museum of Mexico; Mr. Israel Guerrero, Director of the ISVE Foundation; and Mr. Salvador Rueda Smithers, Director of the National Museum of History.
In her speech, Ambassador Abida Islam expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the honor and reaffirmed her commitment to deepening cultural relations and mutual heritage between Bangladesh and Mexico. She added that this medal serves as a shining symbol of enduring friendship and cultural exchange between Bangladesh and Mexico, marking another significant milestone in the growing partnership between the two nations.#
