Where are the universities of Bangladesh in the QS ranking?

On November 8th, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a UK-based education and research institute, released the Asia’s Best University Ranking-2024. A total of 856 universities have been included in this year’s list. China’s Peking University (Beijing) is ranked first with 100 points out of 100 points as the best university in Asia.Moreover, the University of Hong Kong is in the second top position in Asia with 97.9 points and the National University of Singapore is in the third top position with 97.2 points. However, the University of Tokyo is ranked 14th with 88.9 points as the best university in Japan.

The QS report ranked the top 856 universities in Asia as a single country but India had the highest total of 148 universities. Moreover, a total of 133 universities in China, 96 in Japan, 87 in South Korea, 10 in Hong Kong, 46 in Taiwan, 4 in Singapore, 41 in Malaysia, 42 in Indonesia, 25 in Thailand, 31 in Iran, and 15 in Vietnam have been named.However, it is revealed that only 4 universities in Singapore are included in this list, but all the universities are in the list of 1 to 128. However, in the face of hundreds of restrictions and obstacles in the western world, Iran’s Sharif University of Technology has taken its rightful place in the list of the best 100 in Asia with 46.7 points.

25 universities in Bangladesh, 63 in Pakistan, 11 in Sri Lanka, 2 in Nepal, and 1 in Myanmar have appeared in this list among all countries other than India in South Asia.However, among the best universities in India, Indian Institute of Technology (IITB) Bombay is ranked 40th with 67.2 points, Indian Institute of Technology (IITD) Delhi is ranked 46th with 64 points and 53rd with 56.8 points. There is Indian Institute of Technology (IITM) Madras.National University of Science and Technology (NUST) Islamabad is ranked 64th with 53.3 points and Quaid-e-Azam University is ranked 86th with 46.3 points.Sri Lanka’s University of Colombo is in the range of 301 to 350 and Nepal’s Tribhuvan University is in the range of 501 to 550. Moreover, Myanmar’s Yangon University has been ranked from 501 to 550 due to the terrible civil war.

In the ranking of the best universities in Asia, Dhaka University is ranked 140th with 33.9 points, BUET is ranked 187th with 27.7 points and North South University is ranked 191st with 27.6 points. Moreover, Brac University is in the range of 281 to 290.Besides that, the names of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Gazipur and Jahangirnagar University have come up in the range of 351 to 400. Rajshahi University is ranked between 451 and 500 in this list. Again, the names of Bangladesh’s Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (QUET) and Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) have been included in the list of the best universities in Asia from 501 to 550.
