At present, in the world of military aviation technology, massive competition has started to design and manufacture fifth-generation fighter jets. In reality, the United States is going to unveil highly advanced stealth fighter jets with sixth-generation features, surpassing all the countries in the world. It is believed that the US Air Force is secretly testing or researching sixth-generation stealth fighter prototypes. However, it may have to wait until 2027–28 to put them into service.
At the end of 2023, another American super-bomber stealth aircraft, the B-21 Raider, took to the skies for experimental purposes. Another American aviation giant, Northrop Grumman, may launch the massive production line of this series of super-bomber aircraft around 2025–26. The US Air Force plans to bring a hundred or so B-21 Raider stealth super bombers into service within the next decade to replace the long-range heavy B-2 Spirit bombers in its fleet.
It is revealed here that while other countries in the world are struggling to effectively bring the fifth-generation aircraft into service, the United States used its technological capabilities in 1983 to bring the F-117 Nighthawk stealth aircraft into service, surprising the entire world. Moreover, as stealth-capable fighters, the United States brought 187 F-22 Raptors and more than three hundred F-35 stealth fighter jets of three categories into service and is using them in direct combat missions on a limited scale.
However, currently, along with America, the Red Giant China and Russia have put into service a limited number of fifth-generation fighter jets. Currently, China’s Air Force has around 60 new-generation J-20 fighter jets operational, and China is working extensively on another lightweight J-31 fighter jet with stealth capability, although it has seized documents from the US and Russia. Although it is not yet in service.
Besides America, Russia, and China, some countries, such as Turkey, India, the UK, Japan, South Korea, and Iran, are trying their best to design and build fifth-generation or next-generation fighter jets. However, they are still in the primary stages of development for designing and manufacturing such highly advanced aircraft. These countries have not yet launched their own fifth-generation fighter jet production lines. Moreover, India has been working very hard to build its own Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) or Next Generation Aircraft for almost a decade, but it remains at the mock-up or scale model stage.
Turkey started making final preparations to complete the first flight test of the prototype copy of its next-generation “Kaan” advanced combat aircraft in early 2024, but it may take until 2030 to enter service. Moreover, countries like Turkey, China, India, and South Korea have not yet achieved any technological advancement to design and manufacture the engine, which is an important part of the next generation of fighter aircraft with stealth capability. Again, Turkey is assembling the F-16 fighter aircraft with a license from the United States, but in reality, it has not yet acquired the technological capability to produce such a light fighter aircraft independently without American technical support. So I think that even if Turkey can complete flight tests of their ‘Kaan’ advanced aircraft, in the near future, it may take another ten years to launch its massive production line.
On the other hand, Iran has been trying to develop its new generation of “Kahar” combat aircraft, but it does not seem to have been able to achieve any technological capability to fly in the sky to date. There is even room for doubt as to whether the country actually has the capability to produce any normal aircraft. Besides, Iran has put a series of sophisticated ballistic missiles, combat drones, and kamikaze drones into service, which has caused a huge stir around the world and is being successfully used by superpower Russia in military operations in Ukraine. But in one word, all the countries in the world are at least 40 years behind America in designing and manufacturing highly advanced aerial systems with stealth technology features.##
