The best universities ranking in the Arab world

Recently, Spain’s Madrid-based education and research institute ‘Webmetrics’ published the world’s best university rankings for the January 2024 edition. According to their report, the world’s best and first university is Harvard University in the United States. Stanford University is ranked second, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is ranked third in the world. However, although the countries of the western world are ahead in this ranking, the progress of the Arab world in the higher education system has significantly developed step by step.
In fact, in recent times, billions of dollars have been invested in most countries in the Arab world to build world-class and high-level educational institutions. In particular, the government ruled by the honorable Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia is completely decorating its own education system in view of Vision 2030. Moreover, Saudi Arabia has recently installed the Shaheen-3 supercomputer in 2023. They have taken notice to give more importance to the education system based on science and technology to face future challenges in the post-oil era.
According to the ranking of ‘Webmetrics’ 2024, the best university in the Arab world is King Saud University of Saudi Arabia. Which is ranked 290th in the list of the best in the world and the first university in the list of the Arab world. Moreover, King Abdulaziz University ranked 370th among the best universities in the world and the second highest in the Arab world, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) ranked 383rd in the world and the third highest among the Arab countries.
Egypt’s Alexandria University is ranked 4th, Cairo University is 5th, and Qatar University is 6th in the list of the best in the Arab world, but these universities are ranked 494th, 502nd, and 650th, respectively, globally. Moreover, in the list of universities in the Arab world, King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals is in 7th place, the University of Jordan is in 8th place, the American University of Beirut is in 9th place, and the Jordan University of Science and Technology is in 10th place in the Arab world.
The best educational institution in the United Arab Emirates is the United Arab Emirates University. Which is ranked 806th in the list of the best in the world and 13th in the list of the Arab world. Kuwait University, ranked 1950 in the world, and the University of Baghdad in Iraq, ranked 1491 in the world. Moreover, Saudi Arabia’s Taif University is ranked 799th, and King Khalid University is ranked 932nd in the world.
However, in the list of the best universities in the world, the highest number of universities in the Arab world—153 in Morocco, 125 in Iraq, and 113 in Algeria—are listed. On the other hand, 68 universities in Saudi Arabia, 70 in the United Arab Emirates, 17 in Qatar, 57 in Libya, 29 in Palestine, 38 in Oman, 79 in Egypt, 43 in Syria, 38 in Jordan, 47 in Lebanon, 51 in Yemen, 13 in Bahrain, and 14 in Kuwait are on this list.##
